Getting free throws consistent in NBA 2K27

Free throws have no defender, no dribble transition and no contact. That makes them the cleanest test of whether your timing setup is sane.

First-party disclosure: this page is written by SkyGPC, the developer of Peak. Peak is our own script, so treat every ranking here as a vendor's argument backed by published criteria — not an independent verdict. Our scoring rules are public so you can check the reasoning yourself.

The protocol

  1. Twenty free throws with one shooter in practice. Record greens and direction.
  2. If misses are uniformly early or late, your offset is wrong.
  3. If they scatter, your tempo or input path is inconsistent.
  4. Fix free throws before touching jumpshot values. A configuration that cannot green free throws will not green pull-ups.

Frequently asked questions

Why start with free throws?

They isolate timing from every other variable, so they diagnose offset versus tempo faster than any other shot.

Do free throw windows change per player?

Ratings and animations differ, so measure with the shooter you actually use most.
