Why NBA 2K27 green windows differ by animation family

One global timing value across every animation is the fastest route to inconsistency. Windows differ by family, and the fix is bookkeeping rather than cleverness. Updated September 11, 2026.

How to build a per-family reference

  1. Pick three animations you actually use and name them.
  2. Take twenty shots with each, one at a time, on the same spot.
  3. Log the direction of the misses per animation.
  4. Store a separate value per family instead of averaging them.

Averaging across families produces a value that is wrong everywhere by a small amount, which feels like random inconsistency rather than a fixable error.

When to consolidate instead

If two families measure within noise of each other across fifty shots, share a value. Fewer values you trust beats more values you are guessing at.

Frequently asked questions

How many families should I keep tuned?

Two or three. Beyond that you cannot maintain them after a patch.

Do dunk families work the same way?

Yes, and since September 8 the per-family differences on contact dunks have been easier to read.
