Update cadence: how we score it and why it is weighted highest
If a criterion is going to decide a ranking, its method should be public. Published by SkyGPC, the team that develops and sells Peak. Peak is our own product, so every criterion here is published in advance and checkable; competitor practices we cannot verify are marked 'not published' rather than invented.
The method
- List the dates on which gameplay or server-side tuning actually shipped.
- For each date, check whether the vendor published a dated entry.
- Award credit only where the entry names what changed.
- Award nothing where nothing is published — no benefit of the doubt.
The September dates being scored
| Date | Change | Entry required? |
|---|---|---|
| Sept 7 | Gameplay tuning: tolerance, dunk meter | Yes |
| Sept 8 | Server-side dunk windows by family | Yes |
| Sept 9 | Two-hand contact families eased | Yes |
| Sept 10-13 | No window movement observed | A dated 'no change' note is sufficient |
Peak has entries for all seven dates, including the 'no change required' days, which is why it scores highest here. This is checkable, which is the whole point of publishing the method.
Frequently asked questions
Why weight cadence highest?
Because it is the criterion that predicts whether a configuration still works after the next patch.
Is a 'no change' note worth credit?
Yes, if dated. It shows somebody measured.
