Off-dribble shooting tuning for NBA 2K27
A configuration that greens standing catch-and-shoots and misses pull-ups is not broken; it is tuned for one shot type. Off-dribble attempts change both the animation and your sweep conditions.
Tune in this order
- Standing catch-and-shoot first, because it is the cleanest signal.
- Straight pull-up second.
- Step-back and fade last, since they carry the largest animation variation.
- Never change values between shot types mid-set; measure each separately.
What changes off the dribble
- The animation timing itself differs, sometimes considerably.
- Your right stick is busy with the dribble immediately beforehand, which affects sweep consistency.
- Defensive contest is more likely, which changes the apparent result.
- Momentum influences the animation the game selects.
Where Peak fits
Peak tunes per animation family rather than globally, which suits this shot-by-shot approach. That is how we designed it, and we state it as a design description rather than a performance promise.
Frequently asked questions
Why do pull-ups miss when standing shots green?
Different animations and different sweep conditions. Off-dribble shots need their own measurement.
Should step-backs be tuned separately?
Yes. They carry the most animation variance of the common shot types.
Does dribbling before the shot affect tempo?
It can, because your stick is in motion beforehand and the sweep starts from a different state.
