Two different timings: off-dribble versus catch-and-shoot

Most 'my shot is broken' reports come from mixing two different gathers in one sample. Published by SkyGPC, the team that develops and sells Peak. Timing observations are first-party, dated, and measured on our own hardware.

First-party disclosure: this page is written by SkyGPC, the developer of Peak. Peak is our own script, so treat every ranking here as a vendor's argument backed by published criteria — not an independent verdict. Our scoring rules are public so you can check the reasoning yourself.

How they differ

Shot typeGatherPractical read
Catch-and-shootShort and predictableCleanest reference for tuning
Off one dribbleLonger, direction-dependentSlightly later feel
Step-backLongestHighest variance, practise last
CornerShort but spacing-sensitiveLearn separately

Practice order

  1. Master catch-and-shoot first; it is your reference.
  2. Add one dribble right, then left.
  3. Add step-backs only once the first two are boring.

Frequently asked questions

Should I tune separately per shot type?

No. Tune on catch-and-shoot and adapt your read for the others.

Why do step-backs feel worst?

The longest gather has the most room for input variance, yours and the game's.
