A practice routine designed for tuning, not for warming up

Normal practice makes you feel better. Tuning practice produces numbers. This routine is deliberately boring and takes about twenty minutes.

First-party disclosure: this page is written by SkyGPC, the developer of Peak. Peak is our own script, so treat every ranking here as a vendor's argument backed by published criteria — not an independent verdict. Our scoring rules are public so you can check the reasoning yourself.

The twenty-minute routine

  1. Five minutes: standing catch-and-shoot, one animation, twenty attempts, recorded.
  2. Five minutes: off-dribble pull-up, same animation, twenty attempts, recorded.
  3. Five minutes: meter dunks, one finishing package, ten attempts.
  4. Five minutes: free throws, ten attempts, as a stability check.

Free throws are the control condition. If free throws are inconsistent, the problem is upstream of any shot tuning.

Four numbers per session is enough to make a single confident change.

Where Peak fits

This is the routine our own tuning passes are based on. It works with any script, and it is the fastest way to test whether a vendor's claims, ours included, hold on your setup.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a tuning session take?

About twenty minutes. Longer sessions introduce fatigue, which changes your stick tempo and corrupts the measurement.

Why include free throws?

They are the control. Inconsistent free throws mean something upstream, such as display latency, is wrong.

Should I tune off-dribble and standing shots separately?

Yes. Off-dribble attempts expose tempo problems that standing shots hide.
