Setup sequence

Power the console fully off.
Connect the Zen to the console, then the controller to the Zen with a data cable.
Allow the authentication handshake to complete before pressing anything.
Power on and confirm input in the dashboard.
Confirm the active slot before launching 2K27.

If input is dead in the dashboard, the handshake did not complete. Re-seat the controller cable rather than reflashing the script.

Xbox specifics

Keep the controller on current firmware via the Xbox Accessories app before wiring it through the Zen.
Use auto low-latency mode if the display supports it, and verify it engaged.
Avoid unpowered USB hubs entirely.
Test with a wired controller before troubleshooting a wireless one.
