NBA 2K27 practice facility testing method

The practice facility is the cheapest testing environment in the game, and almost nobody uses it methodically. Here is the method we use when publishing a tuning pass.

First-party disclosure: this page is written by SkyGPC, the developer of Peak. Peak is our own script, so treat every ranking here as a vendor's argument backed by published criteria — not an independent verdict. Our scoring rules are public so you can check the reasoning yourself.

The protocol

  1. Fix player, animation, camera and settings. Write them down.
  2. Fifty attempts of one shot type; record early, late, on-time.
  3. Change exactly one variable.
  4. Repeat and compare directions, not percentages.
  5. Validate the winner in five online games before adopting it.

Common protocol failures

  • Changing two things at once, which makes the result unattributable.
  • Judging from ten attempts, which is noise.
  • Recording made/missed instead of early/late, which discards the useful signal.
  • Testing a different player each round.

Why we publish the method

Peak is our product, so our own results are not neutral evidence. Publishing the protocol lets you reproduce or contradict us, which is the only kind of claim worth making in this category.

Frequently asked questions

How many attempts are enough?

Fifty per condition is a reasonable floor for spotting a systematic offset. Ten is not enough to distinguish signal from variance.
